FROM THE VAULTS
I left the camera's battery charger at home, so naturally the sunsets have been phenomenal, the porpoises are doing a water ballet, and the pelicans have been forming the letters of my name with their wings.
So I leafed through my old files, looking for some pics that I have not posted before. The result is a mash-up of old and new shots...
The Harvey Canal provides a gateway from the Mississippi River westard to Texas along the Intracoastal Waterway. This was taken from Kody Shipyard, our favorite place to get repairs done.
A container ship this size can carry close to, if not more than a 1000 containers, and every one needs a truck to move it.
Morrison Springs is on my 'scatter-my-ashes-here' list
If this oyster boat has a good night, that front deck will be loaded with sacks
and those tires will be 2/3 submerged, due to the extra weight.

The dragonfly photo is amazing. I love the blue hues.
beautiful shots...that last one especially.
That is a huge cargo ship. WOW!
Nice photos. I especially like the first one from Morrison Springs.
@Roadkill_Spatula - I wish there was a film of me taking that photo. The danged bug would fly away every time I took a step towards him. To get close, I had to hunch over, with my camera pointed downward, and walk like Tim Conway's old man character, so as not to startle him.
@C_L_O_G - Glad you liked it, and thanks for plugging my pics.
I like the new pictures. My favorite is the new one of you! I really miss you and I'm glad you'll be home soon. Get lots of sleep and drive carefully, since I'm not quite ready to decide where to scatter your ashes yet. : )
@MelFamy - No problem. I like your pictures.
@MelFamy - It paid off. Too bad no one has come up with a zoom lens that will let you shoot the subject from any angle regardless of where you are. Something like the little zapper in Star Wars that Luke practiced dueling with.
Your pictures make me wish I had not got off the water.
@cafengocmy - Have I got a poem for you!

Love the pelican shots -- especially the one with 2 birds and that wonderful sky!
I was a fisherman when I was young and thought I would never get off the water. Then I joined the AF and went to war. I have been back out there a couple of times between jobs but it is too hemmed in by laws and rules and quotas now. The big hit came when we got cut off from Campeche.
Great dragonfly picture!
Wow! Love 'em. Especially that moon shot. Nice stuff man.
I wish you would get your act together and remember your camera equipment! There are too many photos that I like here to name a favorite...they're all great and I'm always happy to see what you've come up with. Joiwinds is your bride? I got a kick out of her 'scattering your ashes' comment - good stuff. Peace
