The Wealthy, Forever a Minority?
Obama is attacking our Rich-Americans, certifiably the smallest minority extant in these United States. He has declared war on their wealth, their businesses, and will soon have all but publicly declared that he will nationalize every successful business in the United States and its territories. Well, he might exempt Wake Island, but I hear he is going to force owners of mansions to open their swimming pools to the public, and make them pick up hitchhikers in their chauffered limos. If any of the above is true, (and hey, we've never had a half-black president before, so who knows?) the oppressed upper class in America will be needing our help. Do you realize that many children of CEO's have never eaten a corn dog?
But a change is in the wind. New charities are springing up, NGO's whose mission in one way or another will improve the lives of the long-neglected .5% of us that have never been inside a public school or playground. People who want to make a difference in the lives of those whose vision of the future is sadly blocked by piles of (possibly unclean) lucre can choose between the following organizations:
Habitat for Legacies
Toys For Trust-Fund Babies
Polo Pony Sanctuary
Big Butler
National Association for the Advancement of the Comfortably Prosperous
Hedge Start
Slope For Tomorrow
Tax Shelters Without Borders
Jet Lag Research Foundation
Project Gentrify
Daughters of the American Robber Barons
Heirs Without Partners

You know the "ride along" programs the cops have? Well, I want to do a live like the rich for a day kind of thing, where I can go anywhere and keep everything I buy. Maybe they can give me some excellent stock tips that I can cash in on right away. Or even (dare I hope) go to the dentist on their dime and have that work done that I can't afford because I'm not poor enough to afford the charity dentist or right enough to afford the regular ones.
o em gee!! he better be looking behind him ... is he forgetting who brung him to this dance? i liked the "Daughters of the American Robber Barons" ... the DARBs will go into revolt!!
@windupherskirt - My favorite is Big Butler.
Before it'as all over, I think Obama will cave, and give the republicans everything they want.
@MelFamy - ya gotta dance with the one who brung ya ...
Obama pisses me off. This is why I'm Republican. It's not fair for people that make good money to use all that money to take care of people that wont go out and work hard. WE WORKED HARD TO GET WHERE WE ARE.
Sorry, this pisses me off. LOL
while it is everyone's responsibility to chip in for the expenses of this great nation, there is a very very fine line that we have to walk between taxes and extortion.
lately, it seems like we're slipping into the latter. some people cannot understand that you cannot contort and shape society to be utopian when it is largely fair. perfect, it isn't, but the alternative is much worse in the long term.
It looks like you've got some people reading your post who have had their sense of humor taken away from them by the republican party. Maybe our nice president can figure out a way to give it back to them!
@ThePrince - Is it largely fair that My income tax rate is higher than Warren Buffett's? Is it really fair that capital gains are taxed at rates less than that of people who actually produce something? i
You do understand that under Eisenhower, the top tax rate was over 100% higher than it is now, right? Were we a socialist country then? Were we socialist when, during WW2, we rationed gasoline? The top tax rate during world war 2 was 94%, although the average tax rate was 20.9%. Does that mean that socialists won the war?
Some people cannot understand that health care is a basic necessity until they have a catastrophic illness in their own family. They also seem to not understand that people will not be as motivated to fight for a country as selfish as you and people like you want to make it. Don't forget, we defend Israel, Iraq, Japan; all with national health care. All of our allies have national health care. And we could too, if we weren't busy being the most warlike nation on the face of the earth.
You go, Melfamy!!!! Kudos!
@MelFamy -
these are fair points.
But let me reiterate, it's "largely fair" not perfectly fair. It's not Warren buffet's fault that you pay the rate you do in taxes. If that's what you want, look into how you can. You're sitting here complaining about what you see as a bad system and that's fine...but at the end, it's all up to you to improve your quality of life. That's the way the game is played.
And don't judge me by saying I'm selfish. If you had a chance to get more or get the best at my expense, you wouldn't hesitate to leave me dead in a ditch.
Warren is the man who pointed out the discrepancy. And I am sitting here trying to be humorous, when some youngster with no sense of history tells a liberal that we are sliding to the left. I know left, bud, and left ain't the way we are headed. Your heroes are leading us back to the days before the Magna Carta, when the serfs owned nothing but their clothes. If you are comfortable with 1% of the people owning 90% of the country's assets, you are too young too know what is good for you.
Thanks for the chuckle! Big Butler is such a good org. Yes Buffet was the first to bring up the tax issue. He thought it was wrong that his receptionist was paying a higher tax rate than he was.
I love the Hedge Start program. My gosh!
For what it's worth, I thought this was a very funny, cheeky entry.
@Prolixity_Split - I do appreciate the compliment. I appreciate all comments, even those that aren't complimentary. Gotta know what the crowd is thinking, after all. My new goal is to get a laugh out of @ThePrince - and@aprylg - ,
I figured you did. It's just mildly upsetting that the political climate is so desperate that you really can't respond to satire as if it is... funny. There has to be serious discussion about it!
@MelFamy - if that's what you think, that's fine. i obviously did not pay attention to the humor of your post.
@ThePrince - And I was needlessly harsh. Hope you come back.
@MelFamy - the invite is much appreciated. thank you and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
I believe I heard that part about opening the pools and forced limo rides on FOX. I should totally send them this link so they can report it as fact.
Honestly, the wealthy have suffered far too long in this country and it's time the derelicts, elderly, and handicapped pull themselves up by the bootstraps and pay their fair share. LEAVE THE WEALTHY ALONE!
Your blogs: forever boring us.
@Frankenchrist - you know where the door is
