HERE, THERE, THEN ANOTHER THERE
I cross the Bailey Bridge almost every, but it was not until recently that I took advantage of the excellent views from the old bridge that still stands beside it, and is used as a fishing pier.

From the south end of Bailey Bridge, looking west into the setting sun

Regular readers, you two should recognize the Escher Museum, on the waterfront in Mobile, Alabama

The Bulk Terminal, in Eastern New Orleans, is a popular model of mine. good thing, because the weather will keep us here for several days.

These guys let me get closer than usual, I think because I had the sun behind me.

But when I took one more step......

There are some beautiful spots still left unspoiled in Bay County, and if you obey the signs and stay on the trail, you will never see them

If the Park Ranger sees me off the Trail, I will run up to him, crying, "Thank God, you found me!

An interesting perspective on the museum -- and I love the bird in flight
!
As always, interesting shots of your natural habitat.
@slmret - You should have seen how close some flew by while I fumbled with the camera. I love that old building, it is really a working ship loading and unloading facility. Coal, sand, gravel, anything that can be put on a conveyor belt, can be and has been transferred here. I always think of Escher's work when I see it.
@Lovegrove - I was using a new photo editor, and it has a steep, frightening even, learning curve, or there would be more pix. I will get some more on here in a couple of days.
beautiful shots, I'm envious of your colors. Everything here is now drab and dead. My trees are bare and my grass is brown. The skies are grey and the sun set at 4:45 this afternoon.
@godfatherofgreenbay - C'mon! You're walkin' in a winter wonderland, families skating along the sidewalk, past lovers building snowmen, and...ice fishing! You lucky duckies I wish we had snowdrifts and hoarfrost..
the grass is always greener...well we haven't had any snow yet and there isn't any ice on the lake yet. I hope to get in some ice fishing this winter though.
Nice pictures. I really like the ones of birds.
I'll have to remember the 'thank God you found me' line. That might come in handy one day.
stunning.
that first piccie is BREATHTAKING.
Yeah, it's tougher than it looks to grab images like these; they almost write their own captions. Nice work/play. I remember that damn Museum; was trapped inside for an insidiously long time, a week at least. Finally escaped by sliding down a vertical pole and cutting my way through the fourth-wall's canvas.
And that's so uber-gay, squirming out of a trespass by arousing pity. But hell, if it works...
@jsolberg - I only blog so I can earn one of your LOL-inducing comments, Yoni. They are worth all the bee stings and free-bleeding gashes I get from thorns(blood thinning medicine works!) I incur.
@MelFamy - if I'm right, blood's supposed to be 'thicker than water, but just barely, depending....
And thanks, guy; the feeling's unsurprisingly mutual.
Always somewhat envious that you get to work and play in such beautiful surroundings. :]
Great pics! This week-end was the New Orleans Book Fair, but I skipped it this year.
@doahsdeer - Time flies by, doesn't it?
You have such a talent for photography. I could take those very same pictures but they would never look like yours. I've seen the place where you took that first picture hundreds, no probably thousands of times. I really never saw it like that. Great eye, great talent....it's a gift.
^^ All i can think of is Sam the Sham (of the Pharoahs) screaming "..watch me now, watch me now!" in Wooly Bully. Somebody buy that guy a watch... and a matching handbag.
Oops, now you can't kill the beast, it'll leave me an orphan. Yeah, we work together...
@jsolberg - The ease with which the program slips from handbags to watches is matched only by its slippery grasp of syntax.
I am beat, good night, my friend
