  • Looking Well, Seeing Little

What do they seek, these westward-looking fellows?

    Yes, to the west

Is it an oncoming tsunami? Boatload of tourists with peanuts? A cloud that looks like Robert Stroud* in profile?

Meanwhile, to the, east, some are done with looking...

    Others wait their moment

    Some are just confused

    Okay, the coast is clear....

Right! Last time you said that I lost 3 of my brothers to the cat!

Thanks for the warning, now that they're gone, I'm gonna sun and nap until dark

    Just after sundown.......

    (Sniff!) Ahh, lizard!

*Robert Stroud was known as the Birdman of Alcatraz, but you knew that, didn't you?

  • A lizard has a hard life...lol

  • I love that lizard in the pine needles shot. I don't think I'd be quick enough to capture a shot of one. So where are you, G.?

  • We are at he salt mines, picking six barges full of same.

the lizards are posers, real camera hogs

  • I like how you make a story to go with the pics. Nice shots

  • @MelFamy - Are there any Ginger and Marianne's on your boat? I don't know if there are females that go into this line of work.

  • @Kellsbella - There  couple of gals working out here. Sister Joy is one the most interesting people, male or female, out here on the water. She is a Carmelite nun now, just took her orders two years ago. Before that she was with the rivermen's church, and would visit boats, talk to the crews, give them rides to the store, talk religion if that is the desire.

She knew John Hartford (Gentle on my Mind), so we had something to talk about.
Before the recession of '81, there were a lot more women on boats, but they were the first to be let go.

  • lovely photos, I think most of our birds are gone now except for the geese honking at the lake early in the morning.  The lake is about 3 blocks from my house but I can hear those damn things all the way up here.  Oh and we have crows and some turkey vultures around that help aid the county since we no longer have a road kill department.
