  • Mr. Meth-Head Teaches the Alphabet....

    ...And Other Offensive Book Titles

Amazon caught Hell this week, when it was discovered that a book extolling the virtues of pedophilia, The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover's Code of Conduct was for sale on the site. They quickly removed it, and a consulting firm was hired to draft an apology that will be tested on audiences in Ames, Iowa, Tempe, Arizona, and Rome, Georgia, before its release to the general public.

Now, that's all well and good, but it is merely reactive. Proactive measures are called for. Amazon needs to streamline their and fine-tune their review process. However, they need to do more than just reject offensive published material, they need to get ahead of this problem, and be on the lookout for offensive titles to books yet to be written, titles such as:

    Great Moments In Animal Cruelty

    Wife-Beating Made Simple

    Waterboarding The Autistic, It Works!

    A Child's Guide to Glue-Sniffing

    Profiles In Ethnic Cleansing

    The Joys of Cannibalism

Elementary, My Dear, Sexting For the Younger Set

So You Want To Make A Car Bomb

    Cyber-Bullying  For Dummies

Knife Tag, Playing With Matches, and other fun things to do on rainy days

  • Hey! I'm offended!

  • You should write for Letterman!

  • @POETIC_ISIS - I do! He and Leno both steal my jokes.

Actually, I'm prouder of the post prior to this one, wherein the author doth write a Popeye cartoon as Shakespearean tragedy, but it got lost in the weekend bustle.

  • @MelFamy - I saw that one too.  It was good but maybe more for the edjumacated crowd.  Popeye, I tell ya.  Heady stuff there!

  • @POETIC_ISIS - I always found it amusing that we consider Shakespeare highbrow. When he forst put on teh plays, it was the rabble that came to see them. There were fights in the aisles, drinking, cat-calls from the audience. Hell, his plays were the Cartoons of the time.

Maybe if I had worked the Sea-Hag into the plot somehow....

  • hey, you could join the Lorax on the banned books list

  • Grace, it's not you, it's me. Go live your life, take the remembrances of what we once had, put them where the old Sol will never see them, and move onto the next potential sucker.

P.S. Thanks for the e-props. If only you had rec'd me, things might have been different.

  • @an_OM_aly - Anything to boost sales! haha

  • @graceda - that's my husband you are trying to scam there, missy....hands off! But do give him a rec next time  ; )
